Gluten Free at The Ship Inn

As a diagnosed Coeliac I have always insisted that the whole menu should be available Gluten Free for the 10% of the population like myself, who are fed up of the “Steak & Baked Potato/Salad” eating out option, offered at many establishments.

It’s not many Chefs who have the knowledge, commitment and enthusiasm to create all their dishes using Non Gluten Containing Ingredients, like Mark Payne at The Ship. Having attended a course at The Coeliac UK headquarters, he has helped us achieve acclaim 2 years running as National Runners-up in the “Free From Eating Out Awards”. We can offer all our menu items as Gluten Free – the Pies, Fish and Chips, Yorkshire Puddings & Gravy – and of course there’s always a choice of Gluten Free Beers to help the pastry down. There are now many, regular customers from all over East Anglia, coming to dine with the confidence and knowledge that they can safely eat the full menu range.

From 7th March 2017 the Chefs Mark & Frank and the kitchen team, will be baking an extensive, though unpredictable, variety of pies, dependent amongst other things upon available local fresh ingredients & their own ingenuity or even maybe, your requests. For you as customers what will ultimately be available when you arrive, will be what the other customers have not already chosen from any particular days baking – “so do get there early to avoid disappointment”. You can expect a variety of (around 10) meat, fish, vegetarian, exotic & seasonal, freshly cooked pies every day.

If pies are not your style, then there will still be a limited choice of other favourites such as Fish & Chips, Ham Hock and on Sundays – a traditional Roast with all the trimmings and of course our children’s choices.

Importantly – everything will continue to be made using Non-Gluten Containing Ingredients, so that our many valued customers looking to eat Gluten Free, will not be disappointed. In fact we are sure they will be especially excited, to have access to Gluten Free pies. All other allergens can be catered for with minimal advance notice.

You know the saying. “If something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly”. Then to us, a pie is definitely worth doing properly. Don’t forget to book – especially at weekends – 01353676228.
